Classification database

A classification can be defined as a list or a system of object categories or groupings, in which each object or observation can only occur in one of these categories. It can be hierarchic classification and have one or several levels.

Many of the classifications used in Sweden are classifications (standards) established by the EU, the UN or other international body, though adapted to Swedish conditions.

Click on the classification tree for detailed information. The structure, codes and a short description are given for each classification. For more information, please refer to Reports on Statistical Coordination (MIS).
